The Belgian Federal Police searched the Central Prison in Leuven (East of Brussels) for drugs and weapons recently. They found some drugs, a few bullets, and interesting tools that could be handy in case of an escape attempt, but they were most surprised by the find of a primitive brewing installation in one inmate’s cell.
Although the inmates receive “table beer”, low alcohol beer (1.5 % alc. by vol.) during lunch and dinner, this inmate was brewing a more potent beverage.
The new brewery was dismantled.
