Drinking beer might protect you against cancer. |
More and more scientific studies are proving that drinking beer protects against cancer. On January 6, the NBC TV-network ran a short story about such a study in Japan, although with a lot of politically correct warnings. The protective element in beer comes from hops. Today, hops is only used in beer. Well, this is not completely true, in Belgium you can order exquisite dishes with hops sprouts in the finest restaurants. There is an ongoing study in Belgium at the University of Leuven to study the positive effects of drinking beer and protection against cancer, especially breast-cancer. At the University of Gent, researchers try to find an economical procedure to extract the protective element from hops to be able to cure cancer patients. It this succeeds and the cure works, it might provoke a boost in the growing and cultivation of hops. |
