Orange juice or beer?

The Orange Juice industry of Florida tells with a lot of fanfare in TV-ads that drinking Orange Juice may reduce your risk of a stroke with 21%. The beer and wine industry is not allowed by Federal law to tell the public that 2 drinks a day will reduce your risk of stroke with up to 45%. That’s double the benefit of orange juice!

Three more statements this year.
(1) Spanish study finds that the daily consumption of up to 30 grams of alcohol is associated with a 42% risk reduction for all types of stroke. (Journal of clinical Epidemiology)
(2) American National Stroke Association issues statement “... up to 2 drinks per day may actually help reduce the risk of stroke”.
(3) Aetna Health care Magazine “Appleseeds Fall 1999” quotes the January issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association: 2 drinks per day reduces your risks of strokes with 45%.
