The Brewer's Museum in Brussels

The CBB (Confederation of Belgian Brewers) has made the old vaulted basements of the Brewers' House on the "Grote Markt" into a national brewers' museum. Visitors are shown implements, brewing and fermentation tubs, a boiling kettle and the material found in an eighteenth century brewery. In the cosy café or pub, memories of days gone by are brought back to life. Old tankards, antique porcelain and the paraphernalia from an inn of the past illustrate what doubtless deserves to be called "Belgian Beer Culture".

Over the years, the Belgian brewers have kept pace with technology. Centuries of brewing experience, investing in the necessary know-how and better techniques, as well as respect for both beer and nature are the pillars of the Belgian brewing industry. You can call it: Tradition with an eye on the future. Visitors of the museum will see that this is indeed the case, when they walk through a special hub of the latest brewing technology.
During your visit, you will see the raw materials behind beer at a glance, how today's malt industry functions, a modern brewing hall where computer science and precision live in perfect harmony with the brewer's workmanship. Also, you discover advanced filtering methods and cooling processes, high tech bottling and packaging lines and impressive cylindro-conical maturing and fermentation tanks.

The next time you come to Brussels, don't miss this opportunity. The entrance fee is about three dollar, and at the end of the walk, the Belgian brewers offer you a delicious beer at their café. The Museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm every day.
