Oude Zuipers
Brewery Van Steenberge
Refermented in the Bottle & Keg: living beer.
Belgian Triple Ale 11.0% Alc. by Vol.

Owner, President and beer guru Ron Kloth of Papago Brewing Company in Scottsdale, Arizona was looking for an authentic Belgian Triple Ale for his famous micro brewpub. During a visit from brewer Jef Versale of Brouwerij Van Steenberge in 2008, Ron found his beer, Oude Zuipers! The name Oude Zuipers is derived from an old Flemish saying that hangs in bars and breweries throughout Flanders which reads "Daar zun meer oude zuipers dan oude dokters". The translation "There are more old drunks than there are old doctors".

Oude Zuipers is a beer that pushes the boundaries of the Triple beer style with 11.5% ABV. The alcohol content is masked well with a balance of fruitiness and sweetness. Ron Kloth believes that even though many American breweries make great examples of Belgian style beers, that the 'terroir' that comes from having a beer made at a brewery in Belgium with Van Steenberge's over 2 centuries of brewing knowledge, passion for quality, their special spring water, the finest ingredients and the brewery’s proprietary yeast adds to the character and flavor profile which makes the beer especially unique and authentic.

As they say “imitation is the greatest form of flattery”. If you are looking for an authentic Belgian Triple Ale look no farther than Oude Zuipers!

You will find Ron as a participant, judge or just hanging out at some of the best beer festivals and competitions in the U.S., educating beer lovers about this special Belgian Ale… The beer is always available in Scottsdale but “friends of Ron” have begun to bring it into other parts of the U.S. as well.
